1964 Willys Traveller

We bought this old lady in Jo’burg.

She is mostly unmolested and original. The biggest modification is the engine. The owner replaced the original tornado engine with a Chevy 283 8 years before we bought her.

We decided to keep her body as is for now.

The gearbox was wining, so we pulled the engine and gearbox and decided to rebuild both since they are out of the vehicle.

Generally known as a Willys Overlander, this one is actually a Willys Traveller and not an Overlander. Interresting fact is that only the 4×4 models came out with the spare wheel carrier on the roof. (see links to brochures at end of page)

She runs a 38/38 weber on the 283 Chevy with casting number 3789935
